pr.co to become a permanently remote company

Online newsroom and PR software provider, pr.co have today announced that they will become a permanently remote company as they adapt to the ‘new normal’ following quarantine measures.

Along with the rest of the world, the pr.co team packed their bags, leaving the office in March, expecting to return in a few weeks time. Although working from home had never been part of pr.co’s long term plan before the pandemic, the team soon found that it didn’t have any negative impact on their productivity or ability to provide customers with the best possible service.

CEO Jeroen Bos says, “The pandemic has forced us into new ways of working and gave us the opportunity to question the assumptions we had about office centric working.

“As a socially responsible organization we value employee and environmental wellbeing. What we learned during coronavirus is that our staff are happier and more productive at home. This flexibility has allowed our Commercial Director, Sjors, to fulfil his dream of moving to Portugal, and our marketer Ana has moved to her home country Ecuador to live closer to family. Even though some of our team are still based in the Netherlands, the time they used to spend commuting is now theirs to use as they wish and, as a company, we’re not generating the carbon footprint their commute demanded.

“We are excited to announce today that pr.co is transitioning into a permanently remote company. Our current employees will have their contracts amended to reflect this, and the employment laws of the countries they choose to reside in.”

Although pr.co will remain proudly Dutch in its culture, future recruitment drives will be open to candidates in time zones that best align with the majority of the team at the time. Not only will this help pr.co find the best talent to drive their growth, but it will also help to increase the diversity of the team, further enriching pr.co.

At present the team is mostly dispersed across Europe, with one colleague working in Ecuador — a move which has proven beneficial for pr.co’s American customers who can now access customer support longer into their working day.

pr.co has always sought forward-looking solutions to the challenges of the day. Today’s announcement is no exception to this trend. “Anxiety has understandably been heightened over the last few months. For us at pr.co, it was therefore important to provide clarity to our staff and our customers on our long term ways of working as soon as possible” explained Jeroen Bos.

As pr.co moves forwards with its plans for remote working, its priorities are to implement robust measures to ensure staff physical and mental wellbeing and provide additional value to customers.
